From Wednesday to Monday, the streets, squares, and coast of this picturesque city become an open-air stage, with each day bringing a new story and a new reason to celebrate. The summer rhythm pulsates strongly, inviting visitors and locals to surrender to the whirlwind of fashion, music, sports, and flavors that will mark the peak of July. If you are looking for the perfect place for vacation and fun, find your accommodation in Novi Vinodolski and be a part of an unforgettable summer story.

Return to the glorious past: Wednesday in the sign of Okolotorno

As early as Wednesday, July 16, from 7:30 PM, the Old Town once again opens the doors to its glorious past through the event Okolotorno. This unique event, whose name in the local Chakavian dialect means "around" or "in a circle," revives the stone streets and takes visitors on a journey through time. A walk through the narrow, stony alleys becomes an interactive experience where at every step you meet characters who have written the history of this region. The Frankopan princes, whose rule left an indelible mark and resulted in the priceless Vinodol Code, will proudly march through the city. Alongside them will be Ban Ivan Mažuranić and his granddaughter, the celebrated writer Ivana Brlić Mažuranić, thus paying tribute to this distinguished family that originates from Novi Vinodolski. The members of the KUD "Ilija Dorčić," dressed in vibrant folk costumes, will ensure complete authenticity, preserving the traditional songs and dances of Vinodol from oblivion. A special charm will be added to this event by two seaside taverns, opened exclusively for this occasion, from which the scents of autochthonous dishes will spread. Stalls with handicrafts and local products will offer unique souvenirs, while the youngest visitors will enjoy specially designed activities and games, making Okolotorno an experience for the whole family.

Thursday under the stars: Fashion spectacle at Mitan Marina

A day later, on Thursday, July 17, the summer stage moves to the luxurious ambiance of Mitan Marina, which will transform into an open-air fashion runway from 7:30 PM. This exclusive Fashion show brings a touch of glamour and presents the latest collections of renowned domestic and foreign brands. Visitors will have the opportunity to see creations by Showroom Antonela, La Dolce Vita, and Selin, as well as attractive glasses models from the brand Etnia Barcelona. Special attention will surely be drawn to the Freedom Concept Store, which brings avant-garde and recognizable styles. Among them stands out Lulu BiteMyStyle by Zoran Aragović, known for his bold play with colors and patterns, and unique pieces from the brands Lutkart, Kešidov, and MammaMia Art. The combination of the elegant marina, the seaside ambiance, and high fashion will create an evening to remember. Admission to this fashion event is free, and for those who wish to continue the evening in the same style, the Argo restaurant offers the possibility of booking a table for an exclusive dinner with a view of the yachts and the sea.

Friday for the soul: Melodies of Oliver and sporting spirit

Friday, July 18, brings a double program that will satisfy both music lovers and sports fans. The waterfront in the picturesque Povile, not far from Novi Vinodolski, will from 8 PM become the scene of an evening dedicated to the unforgettable Oliver Dragojević. His timeless melodies, which have marked generations, will be performed by top musicians and his friends: Goran Karan, Tedi Spalato, Petar Dragojević, and the legendary Dupini. It will be an evening filled with emotions, nostalgia, and songs that touch the soul, and the idyllic seaside ambiance will provide the perfect backdrop for this musical spectacle. The organizer of the evening is the tavern Lucija, and admission to the concert is free for all visitors. At the same time, in the very heart of the city, at the Small Sports Playground, the excitement of the futsal tournament Novi 2025 continues. This popular tournament, held over four weekends, brings together numerous teams and attracts a large number of spectators, and this Friday, tense matches of the senior teams are scheduled, guaranteeing a sporting battle and a fan atmosphere.

Saturday rhapsody: From a drop of wine to a folk festival in Ledenice

Saturday evening, July 19, offers two completely different, but equally enticing events. In the very center, on the historic Frankopan Square, the traditional Wine Exhibition will be held, an event eagerly awaited by all wine lovers. For a symbolic price of only 7.00 euros, visitors will be able to buy a souvenir glass and indulge in tasting a wide range of wines from local winemakers. It is an ideal opportunity to get to know autochthonous varieties and discover new flavors of the Kvarner region, and the pleasant and relaxed atmosphere will be further enhanced by the music of the Trio Family band. At the same time, in the hinterland, in the charming Ledenice, the feast of Our Lady of Carmel, the patron saint of the place, will be celebrated. This traditional folk festival is a blend of spirituality and joy. After the evening Mass, locals and their guests will be entertained by the popular Tamburaši za dušu, and the gastronomic offer will be the crown of the evening. The real attraction will be a spit-roasted ox, a specialty that is prepared for hours and whose aroma attracts from afar, promising a supreme gourmet experience in an authentic rural ambiance.

Classic elegance and a kilometer of fun to end the week

The week full of events concludes in grand style. On Sunday, July 20, at 9:00 PM, the area in front of the Church of St. Philip and Jacob will become a stage for a musical treat – a concert by the famous tenor Tvrtko Stipić and three sopranos. The unique ambiance of the old sacred building, powerful vocals, and a program filled with the most beautiful classical arias and popular melodies will create an evening of special warmth and sophistication. The grand finale of the summer week will take place on Monday, July 21, when the Petar Krešimir IV Embankment is taken over by the most anticipated summer event – the Feast of a Kilometer. The entire promenade, exactly one kilometer long, will turn into a lively promenade full of content for all generations. The musical backdrop will be provided by as many as five music bands arranged along the coast: Allegro, Joso Butorac i Vivak, Trio Arka, Duo Urnebes, and Damir Biondić (Bronz), guaranteeing that music and good mood reach every corner, all the way to Havana beach bar. The youngest will enjoy face painting and animation games, while specially decorated photo corners will be an ideal place to create lasting memories. Stalls with handicrafts will also be set up along the promenade, and the rich catering offer of existing establishments will be enhanced by additional gastro points. The highlight of the evening and the entire week will be a spectacular fireworks display at 11:00 PM, which will be launched from the sea and illuminate the entire coast, providing a magnificent end to a week filled with fun in Novi Vinodolski.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
