From 18 to 23 August, the Dobrinj area brings jazz, theatre, Hungarian Night, festivals, yoga and a book presentation
The area of the Municipality of Dobrinj on the island of Krk is entering one of the most diverse weeks of its summer programme from Tuesday, 18 August to Sunday, 23 August 2026. According to the announcement published on 17 August and data from the island's events calendar, Dobrinj, Soline, Klimno, Čižići, Polje, Šilo, Tribulje and Gabonjin will host jazz and chamber concerts, morning yoga, a gastronomic evening, a theatrical comedy, a fishermen's festival, a maneštra cooking competition and a presentation of a book dedicated to the history of one Krk settlement. In just six days, the programme thus connects contemporary musical production with local customs, recreation and historical heritage. For visitors planning to combine several events in different places, it is useful to organise transport in advance and check accommodation in the Dobrinj area, especially because of evening programmes that end late. Since some of the events are held outdoors, organisers note in their announcements that the staging of individual events may depend on weather conditions.

Zvonimir Radišić Trio opens the week with jazz in Dobrinj
The first event in the series takes place on Tuesday, 18 August at 20:30 in Dobrinj, where Zvonimir Radišić Trio will perform. The official Krk Events calendar, managed by the Tourist Board of the Island of Krk, confirms that the group consists of Zvonimir Radišić on guitar, Henry Radanović on double bass and Tonči Grabušić on drums, and describes the concert as a meeting of generations of Rijeka's jazz scene. The trio nurtures a traditional jazz expression, but builds it through an original repertoire and many years of playing together. In Dobrinj they will also perform compositions from their debut album "New Horizons", released in August 2022 by Croatia Records. According to the record label's official announcement, the album contains seven compositions written and arranged by Radišić, while the core line-up on the recording consists precisely of Radanović, Grabušić and Radišić.
"New Horizons" is also important because of the recognition that soon followed. The island's events calendar states that Zvonimir Radišić Trio was nominated for the Porin award in three categories in 2023: best jazz music album, best arrangement and new artist of the year, while the official Porin website confirms the album's nomination among the candidates for best jazz album at the 30th edition of the awards. The trio members' connection with this year's Porin further highlights the relevance of the Dobrinj concert: Henry Radanović Quartet, featuring Radanović, Grabušić and Radišić together with trumpeter Branko Sterpin, won the Porin for best jazz music album in March 2026 for "Quiet Rising Star". Porin states that the award went to the quartet and producer Matej Zec. According to the event announcement, the Dobrinj jazz programme is co-financed by funds from the competent department for culture of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, while the media announcement of the programme also mentions HUZIP.
Soline and Klimno combine recreation and music on 19 August
Wednesday, 19 August begins as early as 8 o'clock in Soline with morning yoga led by Dolores Prodan and her DOLIYOGA team. This is a programme held in the Soline area during the summer, and announcements by the organisers and local media show that the 2026 sessions are organised on Sundays and Wednesdays, with exercises adapted to beginners and more experienced participants. The programme is held outdoors and is conceived as a calmer start to the day in Soline Bay, before the main daytime heat. In earlier announcements, the organisers particularly remind participants to pay attention to their own physical abilities, use a mat and adapt the intensity of the exercise to the conditions. The same programme returns on Sunday, 23 August, again starting at 8 o'clock.
The evening programme on 19 August moves to Klimno, where Suzana Matušan Avgustini and pianist Mateo Žmak will perform at 20:30. Krk Events confirms the time from 20:30 to 21:30 and states that the concert will take place at the cistern in Klimno and feature two local artists. Such a setting fits the concept of smaller summer concerts that place cultural programmes in recognisable public spaces of the island's settlements instead of exclusively on large stages. During the same week, audiences can therefore encounter different musical formats, from a jazz trio to a more intimate vocal and piano evening. Klimno, located in Soline Bay in the north-eastern part of Krk, thus receives one of the calmer musical slots in a programme that will move into a considerably larger gastronomic and entertainment format the very next day.
The first Hungarian Night in Čižići: goulash, wines and LGT music
Thursday, 20 August brings one of the week's most prominent programmes - Hungarian Night in Čižići. According to the detailed programme announcement, the gathering begins at 19:00 with the serving of traditional Hungarian goulash and a tasting of Hungarian wines, making the event a combination of gastronomy and music. The concert section is scheduled from 21:00, when LGT Emlékzenekar, or LGT Tribute Band, takes the stage, while at around 23:00 DJ Eugen is expected to continue the programme. The official island calendar lists the event from the evening of 20 August into the early hours of 21 August and names the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Dobrinj as the organiser. The announcement also refers to the first Hungarian Night in Čižići, giving the 2026 event the character of a new addition to the Dobrinj area's summer programme.
The background of the visiting group is connected with one of the best-known Hungarian rock groups of the second half of the 20th century, Locomotiv GT. According to the description by the Tourist Board of the Island of Krk, five musicians from Veszprém founded a group dedicated to performing LGT songs in 1993, and the line-up was later expanded with a brass section. The organisers emphasise that the band seeks to preserve the sound and energy of the original rock concerts while adding its own interpretation of the familiar repertoire. In the context of Čižići, the concert is not conceived as a separate performance, but as part of an evening presenting Hungarian gastronomy, wine and musical tradition. This distinguishes the programme from classic summer festivals and gives it an international cultural emphasis suitable for an audience arriving on Krk from various European countries.
RI Teatar performs in Polje on the same evening
On the same day, 20 August, RI Teatar will perform the play "Make Croatia Great Again" at 20:00 beside the community centre in Polje. The official announcement on Krk Events confirms the time from 20:00 to 21:00 and describes the play as a comedy that, through the relationships of two mothers, Marta and Danica, and their sons Jerko and Neo, explores the themes of military service, parental expectations, freedom of choice and generational differences. Donald Trump is also included in the story as a satirical element, while the play draws on recognisable social situations and current themes. The author of the text is Donato Jurković, the director is Bojan Lakoš, and the cast includes Jasna Jeličić, Galja Milošević, Andrej Gregorin and Andre Šebalj. For audiences choosing between Čižići and Polje on 20 August, this means two completely different evening programmes within the same municipality - a gastronomic and musical event and a theatrical comedy.
Saturday marked by a fishermen's festival and Maneštriada
After Thursday with two parallel events, the next major programme block comes on Saturday, 22 August. A fishermen's festival begins in Šilo at 20:00 with a performance by the group Aurora, and the official Krk Events calendar schedules the programme to last until 2 o'clock after midnight. The organiser describes the event as a traditional fishermen's festival with food and drink on offer, continuing the format of summer gatherings strongly connected with the coastal settlements of the Dobrinj area. Šilo is one of the main tourist settlements on the north-eastern side of Krk, so such evenings are simultaneously social gatherings for residents and attractions for visitors. In a week dominated by concerts and cultural events, the fishermen's festival represents a more direct continuation of the island's summer tradition.
On the same day, Tribulje will host Maneštriada, a maneštra cooking competition. According to the published programme, teams will compete in preparing the traditional dish, followed in the evening by the announcement of the winners, a tasting of the cooked maneštra and entertainment with the group Kožne jakne. The island's tourist calendar confirms the event for 22 August and links it with the band's evening performance. Maneštra, a dish that has numerous variations in different parts of the northern Adriatic and Istria, becomes the centrepiece of the competition and communal tasting here, meaning that gastronomic tradition is not merely decoration but the main theme of the event. For visitors wishing to experience local social life outside the coastal centres, Tribulje offers a programme of a different character from the fishermen's festival in Šilo that day.
Sunday ends with yoga and a book about 650 years of Gabonjin
The final day of the programme, Sunday, 23 August, begins again in Soline at 8 o'clock with Dolores Prodan and DOLIYOGA, making morning recreation a kind of framework for the week. The evening finale moves to Gabonjin, where Nikola Grdinić's book "Gabonjin from 1376 to 2026" will be presented at 18:00 beside the Church of St Peter. According to the announcement, the book will be presented together with the author by historian Tomislav Galović on behalf of the Historical Society of the Island of Krk. The title of the book points to 650 years since 1376, the year associated with the first known written mention of Gabonjin. Sources devoted to the settlement's Glagolitic heritage have also written about the historical importance of this record, with Nikola Grdinić appearing as one of the active guardians and promoters of local tradition.
The book presentation in the area beside the Church of St Peter therefore has a broader significance than an ordinary promotion of a new publication. In a week marked by entertainment, sports and musical content, it serves as a reminder that the Dobrinj area also builds its summer programme on the historical identity of its smaller settlements. Gabonjin is a settlement in the interior of Krk, and the theme of the book connects medieval records in time with the present-day life of the community. The participation of the Historical Society of the Island of Krk further emphasises the documentary and heritage character of the event. The multi-day programme thus concludes with content that is deeply rooted locally, yet understandable and interesting to audiences wishing to learn more deeply about the island's history.
Different activities distributed throughout the Dobrinj area
The programme from 18 to 23 August demonstrates a model of summer events in which activities are not concentrated in one place, but distributed among the coastal and inland settlements of the Municipality of Dobrinj. Dobrinj gets a jazz concert, Soline recreational morning sessions, Klimno a more intimate concert, Čižići an internationally themed gastronomic evening, Polje theatre, Šilo a fishermen's festival, Tribulje a gastronomic event, and Gabonjin a historical and literary programme. Such distribution allows visitors to discover different parts of north-eastern Krk over several days, but at the same time requires somewhat more planning because of the distances between locations and the different starting times of the programmes. Especially for evening events, it is useful to check any schedule changes, the weather forecast and the latest organiser announcements before departure. According to information currently available as of 17 August 2026, the listed times constitute the officially announced schedule for this part of the Dobrinj area's summer programme.
