The Croatian Camping Association (Kamping udruženje Hrvatske - KUH) proudly presents the 18th Croatian Camping Congress, an event that will bring together key players in the camping industry from Croatia and Europe from November 11 to 13, 2024, at Terme Tuhelj. The congress will be an opportunity to analyze the past tourism season and discuss current trends and challenges facing this sector, including technological advancements and sustainable development.

This year's event puts a special focus on the integration of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence, which transforms the way camps provide services and communicate with guests. It is anticipated that digitalization will be crucial for enhancing the user experience and optimizing business processes in camps. Panels will address the application of AI in automating reservations, personalized offers for guests, and environmental maintenance through ecological solutions.

Technological innovation and sustainability as the foundation of the future

One of the central panels will be dedicated to a discussion on technological innovations, with a special emphasis on automation and digitalization of camps. Participants are expected to hear how the integration of artificial intelligence can increase efficiency in camping, from reservation management systems to optimizing energy resources. This technological advancement is crucial for camps to meet the needs of modern guests who seek faster and more personalized services.

At the same time, sustainable development will be a key topic given the growing ecological challenges. Experts will discuss the need to adapt to climate change and how camps can position themselves as leaders in ecologically sustainable tourism. Given the fact that many visitors seek destinations that nurture sustainability, ECO-certified camps are seeing increased interest, but there is still much room for improvement in this segment in Croatia.

Geopolitical and economic challenges

In addition to technology and sustainability, this year's congress will encompass a broader geopolitical context. Discussions will address the impact of global economic turmoil on tourism, particularly the camping industry. Experts will talk about how political and economic changes in Europe and the world, such as shifts in energy prices and tax policies, affect the Croatian camping sector. Additionally, the importance of strategic planning will be discussed to ensure the continuous development of the industry despite challenges.

Service quality and recognition for the best

As in every year, the Congress will be an opportunity to recognize the best camps through the Croatia's Best Campsites and OK mini camps awards, which are awarded to camps with top-notch service quality. Furthermore, the most innovative camps will be awarded the prestigious Inova Camp award for the most creative solutions in the industry. The Slovenian award Naj Kamp Adria will also be given to the best camps in the region, further strengthening cooperation among camping destinations in this part of Europe.

Social and business meetings

Alongside the official part of the congress, participants will have the opportunity to take part in various social events. This includes networking events where new business contacts will be made and ideas exchanged about improving the camping industry. Participants will also be able to visit the exhibition part of the congress, where the latest camping equipment will be showcased, including glamping tents and mobile homes, as well as various innovations in auxiliary equipment.

Applications for participation are open, and additional information about the program and registrations is available on the official website of the Croatian Camping Association. A large turnout of experts from the sector is expected, making this event essential for all those who wish to keep up with developmental trends and enhance their business in the camping industry.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
