Minister of Tourism and Sports, Tonči Glavina, together with the director of the Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ), Kristjan Staničić, has awarded contracts for 147 projects of tourist boards, with a total value of 7.3 million euros. These funds are intended for the development of tourism in less developed areas and on the continent, as well as for projects of united tourist boards in 2025.

Support for Less Developed Tourist Areas

Based on the decision of the HTZ Tourist Council, through public tenders, regional tourist boards in areas and on the continent that are insufficiently developed for tourism have been allocated 4.1 million euros for 39 projects. The aim of these funds is to stimulate the development of tourism in regions that have significant potential but have so far been less visited.

Projects of United Tourist Boards

United tourist boards have been allocated 3.2 million euros for 108 projects. This initiative encourages cooperation among tourist boards to jointly enhance the tourism offer and attract a larger number of visitors.

Development of Continental Tourism

Minister Glavina emphasized the importance of these projects for strengthening continental tourism. Since 2021, around 1800 projects of regional and local tourist boards have been financed, with a total value of almost 40 million euros. These investments confirm the direction of the Government of the Republic of Croatia towards the development of year‐round and regionally balanced tourism. Since 2016, through the state budget and EU funds, more than 312 million euros have been allocated for projects of private and public tourism infrastructure on the continent.

Support for TOP Events in 2025

In addition to the mentioned funds, 976,000 euros have also been allocated for 30 organizers of TOP events in 2025. Among the selected events are:

  • ATP Turnir Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag

  • INmusic festival #17

  • SEA STAR festival

  • LMF Festival 2025

  • Sonus festival

  • HIGHLANDER Velebit

  • Melodije Jadrana

  • DOBRO World Cup Osijek

  • Porcijunkulovo 2025.

Director Staničić emphasized that the allocated funds aim to continuously strengthen the overall tourism offer, develop new products, and stimulate tourism in areas with great potential for further development. 39 applications from regional tourist boards and 108 projects from united tourist boards have been accepted. It is believed that these projects will provide Croatian tourism with attractiveness, an authentic experience, and quality, which are key parameters for attracting travel enthusiasts in the coming years.

Accommodation Capacities and Infrastructure

Investments in accommodation capacities and infrastructure are key to sustainable tourism development. The planned projects include the modernization of existing facilities, the construction of new accommodation capacities, and the improvement of transport and municipal infrastructure. These investments will enable visitors to have a higher quality stay and encourage them to prolong their visit in the destinations.

Sustainable Tourism and Ecological Initiatives

Special attention is devoted to the development of sustainable tourism through ecological initiatives. The projects include the promotion of ecotourism, the protection of natural resources, and the education of the local population about the importance of preserving the environment. These activities will contribute to the preservation of natural heritage and attract tourists interested in environmentally responsible travel.

Cultural and Gastronomic Offer

Enhancing the cultural and gastronomic offer is a key segment in attracting tourists. Projects are planned that will promote local cuisine, traditional events, and cultural activities. Such initiatives will provide tourists with an authentic experience and a deeper insight into local tradition and customs.

Digitalization and Promotion

Investments in the digitalization of the tourism offer and the promotion of destinations on the global market are extremely important. The planned projects include the development of mobile applications, the enhancement of tourist board websites, and the use of social media for promotion. These activities will facilitate easier access to information for tourists and increase the visibility of destinations internationally.

This comprehensive investment and initiative aim to improve Croatia's tourism offer, with a special focus on less developed areas and the continental part of the country. Through the development of infrastructure, the promotion of cultural and gastronomic heritage, and the stimulation of sustainable tourism, Croatia seeks to attract a larger number of visitors and ensure balanced development of all its regions.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
