The last few days, the island of Cres has become the center of new luxury tourism with the opening of the hotel "The Isolano" under the prestigious brand Autograph Collection by Marriott. This exclusive resort, which is the result of an investment worth 17 million euros, represents the first five-star hotel on any of Croatia's islands under the auspices of Marriott. Behind this investment stands Nikola Avram, a successful hotel manager and a native of Cres, through his company Valdarke d.o.o., further positioning Croatia on the global map of luxury tourist destinations.

The successful realization of this project is not just an investment in physical infrastructure but also in Croatia's reputation as a country that attracts international luxury brands. This boutique hotel with 49 spacious rooms, located just a few steps from the beach, offers exclusive access to the coast, making it an ideal place for those seeking a blend of luxury and privacy. Guests can enjoy two heated outdoor pools, a modern wellness and SPA center, and a beach bar, while gourmets can try local specialties in several top-notch restaurants.

The design of the hotel is inspired by the local architecture and cultural heritage of Cres, particularly highlighting the use of Brač stone in both the interior and exterior, creating a strong sense of connection to the Adriatic tradition. The interior is designed to reflect the relaxed atmosphere of old stone houses and colorful Cres facades, while the Venetian influence, which has been present in Cres for centuries, can be felt in every detail.

Energy efficiency and sustainability

One of the key features of the hotel "The Isolano" is its emphasis on sustainability. The hotel is designed with high energy efficiency standards, using natural materials such as wood and stone, creating a pleasant atmosphere in harmony with the environment. Additionally, the hotel follows global trends in sustainable tourism and supports the preservation of the natural beauties of the island of Cres, one of the most preserved parts of the Adriatic.

With a focus on ecological responsibility, the hotel also boasts advanced technological solutions. Guests are provided access to their rooms via smart phones, eliminating the need for physical keys, while automated systems for temperature and lighting control provide guests with maximum comfort and personalization of space. All these innovations contribute to creating a luxurious and simultaneously sustainable stay experience.

Rich cultural program and local activities

In addition to luxury accommodation and wellness offerings, "The Isolano" also provides a rich program of cultural events. The hotel plans to organize numerous events that will connect guests with the local community, including presentations of island customs, local cuisine, and cultural events to be held on the hotel terrace overlooking the sea. A special emphasis is placed on ensuring that guests experience an authentic way of life on the island of Cres.

Through this combination of luxury, sustainability, and connection to local life, the hotel "The Isolano" offers an unforgettable experience. Nikola Avram has put in great effort to ensure that every detail of this hotel reflects the best combination of global standards and local specifics, proudly announcing the opening of the hotel for the next tourist season in March, while the official opening celebration is planned for spring 2025.

This project not only brings additional luxury to the Croatian tourism market but also contributes to the development of the entire island of Cres, which is increasingly positioning itself as a destination for more discerning guests from around the world. The hotel has already attracted interest from guests from Europe, the USA, and other markets, which attests to its potential as a future leader in luxury tourism in the region.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
