In Poreč, the "Bike Center Poreč" is opening, which will be the largest cycling center in Croatia, located at the beginning of the famous Parenzana cycling trail next to the Valamar Parentino 4* hotel. The project is being realized with the help of non-refundable EU funds awarded to Imperial Riviera as part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. Bike Center Poreč is part of the Valamar Parentino 4* hotel, which is owned by Imperial Riviera and managed by Valamar as a management company.

The most modern bike center in Poreč will be an essential stop for all cycling enthusiasts - from families with children, recreational cyclists to professional cyclists. The center offers a large number of the latest generation electric and mechanical bicycles for rent of various types. Also, guided cycling tours in the destination, as well as transfer services for people and bicycles, and bicycle repair services for guests and the local population are available.

Bike Center Poreč includes a themed bike park with an asphalt pumptrack polygon on 566 m2 and a circular children's track. Usage is open to the general public and free for guests and the local population, and it is ideal for all ages and levels of experience. Near the center is the Parenzana cycling trail, a former railway line that operated from Poreč to Trieste from 1902 to 1935. Bike Center Poreč is an excellent starting point for all cycling and outdoor activity enthusiasts.

In addition to bike rental and guided tours, the center also offers various workshops and training sessions for cyclists. Educational programs include basic riding techniques, bike repair, and safety measures. The center collaborates with local cycling clubs to provide the best possible support to the community and visitors. Additionally, it offers bicycle storage for those who want to leave their bikes in a safe place while exploring other attractions in Poreč.

"With the construction of the largest cycling center in Croatia, we continue to invest in the development of Istria as the strongest cycling destination in the region. The focus is on developing year-round sustainable tourism that brings added value to the local community, which is recognized through significant support from non-refundable EU funds," said Alen Benković, President of the Imperial Riviera Management Board.

Bike Center Poreč will significantly contribute to the development of sustainable, green, digital, inclusive, and year-round sports-recreational tourism in Poreč and Istria. The total value of the project by Imperial Riviera is 6,059,631.21 euros, of which non-refundable EU funds amount to 1,586,126.72 euros. In addition to the construction of the Bike Center, the project includes a new outdoor spa/wellness area, renovation of the Mediterraneo restaurant, renovation of 7 rooms within the Valamar Parentino 4* hotel, and the construction of a solar power plant, installation of a biocomposter, and employee education on waste management.

An additional attraction will be the various themed routes that the center will offer, such as wine routes, cultural tours, and tours of natural beauties. This will enable visitors to explore the rich history and natural beauties of Istria by bike. All these activities are aimed at promoting an active lifestyle and encouraging sustainable tourism, making Poreč an even more attractive destination for tourists of all profiles.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
