Musical avant-garde on the ancient Placa

The old town core of Dobrinj, with its authentic architecture and intimate atmosphere, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, starting at 9 PM, becomes the stage for a musical treat that pushes boundaries. The world-renowned duo Hojsak & Novosel is coming to Dobrinj's Placa, a musical phenomenon that has redefined the sound of the double bass and tamburica with their innovative approach. Tihomir Hojsak, a master of the double bass, and Filip Novosel, the first tamburica player with a degree from the prestigious New York jazz academy, have created a completely new musical direction. Their project, originally named "Bow vs. Plectrum," masterfully combines seemingly incompatible worlds – the traditional music of the Balkans, jazz improvisation, and classical virtuosity. Their music is not just for listening, but a journey through soundscapes where the double bass does not stick to a rhythmic role but becomes a melodic instrument, while the tamburica shows incredible harmonic and improvisational breadth. This duo has hundreds of concerts worldwide behind them, from the United States, where they received recognition from the American Congress and the California Senate for their contribution to culture, to distant India. They have collaborated with the biggest names on the regional music scene, including Gibonni, Vlatko Stefanovski, and Matija Dedić, as well as with respected orchestras like the Zagreb Philharmonic. The concert in Dobrinj is an opportunity to experience, in a unique ambiance, the energy and synergy of two top musicians whose work has also been crowned with nominations for the Porin music award. Visitors who decide to spend the evening in this historic town can also find excellent accommodation options, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the magic of the island.

Morning awakening of spirit and body and evening magic for the youngest

For those who like to start their day in peace and harmony with nature, the healing mud and beautiful beach in Soline offer the perfect backdrop. On Wednesday, July 16, and again on Sunday, July 20, starting at 8:30 AM, yoga classes will be held under the guidance of Dolores Prodan, better known as DoliYoga. Dolores is a certified yoga teacher with two decades of experience, but also a Gestalt therapist, whose approach to exercise is holistic. Her classes are not just a series of physical postures (asanas), but a process that connects the body, breath, and mind. The program is designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of previous experience – from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. Exercising outdoors, with the sound of the sea and the morning sun, provides deep relaxation and energization for the whole day. DoliYoga emphasizes the importance of mindfulness and meditation, helping participants to calm the mind and find inner strength. The place Soline is known for its healing properties, and this activity further enriches the offer for all who seek rest for the soul and body.

On the same day, Wednesday, July 16, the evening hours are reserved for children's laughter and joy. In Šilo, on the small square, starting at 9 PM, Kazalište Goranga will be performing the play "Klaunovska posla" (Clown's Business). The main character is Goranga the clown, a likeable and somewhat clumsy character who captures children's hearts with his energy and unpredictability. The play is interactive and dynamic, designed to stimulate children's imagination and creativity. Through a series of fun skits, juggling tricks, and comical situations, Goranga draws children into his world, transforming them from passive observers into active participants. Children thus become part of the story, helping the clown with his "problems" and creating magic together with him. The show is full of laughter, dancing to popular children's hits, and the indispensable balloon modeling, which makes every moment an unforgettable adventure. This is an ideal opportunity for a family outing and creating beautiful summer memories in picturesque Šilo, a place that also offers numerous options for family accommodation.

Echoes of tradition and rhythms for dancing until dawn

Thursday, July 17, brings a touch of Mediterranean tradition to Klanice. Next to the community center, starting at 9 PM, a concert by the female klapa Vejanke will be held. They are not just a music group; they are guardians of the heritage of the island of Krk. Known for their clear voices and flawless a cappella performances, the Vejanke proudly promote their island and homeland. They recently had a notable performance in Prague, where they presented Croatian traditional music. It is particularly interesting that in their performances, they wear costumes decorated with Glagolitic letters, thus paying homage to Krk as the cradle of this ancient script. Their repertoire includes traditional Dalmatian songs as well as covers of popular compositions, and their every performance is imbued with emotion and a passion for music. The concert under the starry sky in Klanice will be an opportunity to enjoy the pure beauty of polyphonic singing.

Just a day later, on Friday, July 18, the scene moves to Klimno, which will become the place of the best summer party. The hardworking members of the "Kivna" association are organizing their third After beach party, an event that has already become synonymous with a great time. The program starts at 6 PM with children's games on the sea, offering fun for the whole family. From 7 PM, the masters of rhythm take over the atmosphere – DJ Tommy will be at the DJ deck, while the legendary Grooversi take the stage. This band is known for its energetic live performances and a repertoire that covers the biggest domestic and foreign hits, guaranteeing dancing late into the night. To make the experience complete, the organizers have also prepared a rich gastronomic offer. Visitors will be able to enjoy the now-famous Kivna burgers, fried squid, and french fries, and for refreshment, there will be a variety of cocktails. The highlight of the evening is announced for midnight, when the bravest will be able to participate in a night swim, which gives this party a special charm. Klimno will definitely be the place to be that day, and for those who want to stay longer, finding accommodation in Klimno is a great idea.

The week full of events will conclude on Saturday, July 19, in Šilo, where from 8 PM a traditional fisherman's festival is held. Fisherman's festivals are the soul of the summer season on the Adriatic, and the one in Šilo offers an authentic experience filled with the scents of the sea and freshly grilled fish, the sounds of music, and cheerful chatter. It is an evening that celebrates life, community, and the rich fishing tradition of the region. The grupa Rebecca will be in charge of the musical part of the evening and the dancing atmosphere, a band that knows how to satisfy all tastes and keep the audience on its feet with its repertoire. With good music, delicious food, and a glass of local wine, this festival is the perfect end to an active week and an opportunity for relaxed socializing in the heart of summer in Šilo.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
