At the end of August, Croatia becomes the epicenter of a unique musical and cultural phenomenon that promises to write a new chapter in connecting two seemingly distant cultures. It is an ambitious project called "Odyssey," which spectacularly combines the South Korean rock scene with Croatian musical talent through the filming of a globally followed reality show and a series of concerts. At the center of this event are two prominent Korean groups, K-rock legends YB and the energetic all-female band Rolling Quartz, who will be joined by a special guest, the world-renowned domestic rock star, Dino Jelusić. This project is not just a music tour; it is a journey that, in addition to the Korean metropolises of Seoul and Jeonju, will also encompass a series of Croatian cities, turning them into a stage for a meeting of worlds. Cities like Zagreb, Varaždin, Osijek, Valpovo, Pula, and Rijeka will have the opportunity to host these music stars and become part of a story that will travel the world.

A Fusion of Musical Worlds: K-Rock Legends and a Domestic Star

YB, the band at the forefront of this project, is a true institution on the Korean music scene. Founded back in 1996, with the charismatic Yoon Do-hyun as their frontman, YB are considered one of the most influential and longest-lasting rock bands in South Korea. Their music, a powerful fusion of hard rock, metal, and traditional Korean melodies, has earned them iconic status, and their live performances are known for an incredible energy and dynamism that leaves no one indifferent. Their influence has long crossed the borders of Korea; they have performed on stages around the world, from Great Britain and Germany to the United States and Canada, building an enviable international career. Their dedication to music with a message is also evident in their collaboration on the acclaimed documentary "Landfill Harmonic," the story of a Paraguayan orchestra that plays instruments made from trash. Their single "Dreamer," written for the film, topped world Indy radio charts and confirmed their global reach. Prestigious awards from major Korean television networks (KBS, MBC, SBS) and recognition from media giants like CNN and the BBC, who named them cultural ambassadors after their historic performance in Pyongyang, North Korea, are just a part of their rich biography.

Alongside them, Rolling Quartz, a five-member all-female rock band, is also coming to Croatia. They are a relatively new name, but one that has already left a deep mark on the scene. With their fierce playing and striking visual identity, they quickly attracted the attention of both audiences and critics. Their sound combines elements of rock, metal, and pop-punk, creating a unique and recognizable style. The arrival of Rolling Quartz in Croatia provides a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the new generation of Korean rock musicians.

A special dimension to the entire project is added by the participation of Dino Jelusić. His musical journey, from winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest to collaborations with some of the biggest names in the world rock scene like Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Whitesnake, makes him the perfect bridge between Croatian and international audiences. His powerful vocals and stage presence guarantee that the collaboration with the Korean musicians will be truly explosive.

The "Odyssey" Project: Croatia as a Stage for a Global Spectacle

The "Odyssey" project is conceived as much more than a series of concerts. The filming of a reality show that will follow the bands on their journey through Croatia aims to showcase the beauty and diversity of our country to an audience of millions worldwide. This is not the first time Croatia has become a star of Korean TV formats; a few years ago, the extremely popular show "Sisters Over Flowers" caused a real tourism boom, bringing a wave of Korean tourists to the Adriatic coast. "Odyssey" has the potential to repeat, and even surpass, that success, presenting Croatia not only as a country of natural beauty but also as a modern and vibrant cultural destination. The message that the members of YB want to send through the show is universal and powerful: "In music, there are no borders." They emphasize that music is a common language that connects people regardless of culture and origin. Just like the Odyssey, a mythical journey full of challenges and discoveries, they too want to embrace the unknown and enjoy every moment of exploring Croatia.

During their stay, the musicians will have the opportunity to get to know the different faces of Croatia – from the urban bustle of Zagreb, through the baroque charm of Varaždin and the Slavonian plain in Osijek, to the Istrian beauties in Pula and the Kvarner pearl, Rijeka. They are especially looking forward, as they say, to meeting the local people and trying authentic Croatian cuisine, which will surely be one of the most interesting parts of the reality show for the international audience.

The Climax of the Tour: A Free Concert at the Historic Trsat Castle

As the crown of the Croatian part of the tour, a special musical spectacle is being prepared in the city of Rijeka. On Monday, August 25, 2025, starting at 9 PM, the historic walls of Trsat Castle will echo with fierce rock sounds. As part of the renowned event "Summer at the Gradina," the bands YB and Rolling Quartz, with the support of Dino Jelusić, will hold a concert to remember. What makes this event truly special is the fact that entry is completely free for all visitors, a generous gift from the musicians and organizers to the Rijeka audience. This event, which is also supported by the Rijeka Tourist Board, represents an extraordinary opportunity to experience the raw energy of Korean rock live at one of the most beautiful open-air stages in Croatia. Trsat Castle, with its rich history and imposing architecture, will provide the perfect backdrop for this clash of cultures and musical energies.

First Impressions and Expectations: YB on Meeting Croatia

Ahead of their first visit, the members of YB do not hide their great excitement. "We are extremely excited to be coming to Croatia and this part of Europe for the first time," the band says, adding that they are looking forward to visiting beautiful places and meeting people. Although they come from the other side of the world, Croatia is not a complete unknown to them. "We know that Croatia is a beautiful country; we have heard many nice things about the sporting successes of your footballers, and we are also familiar with the name ‘Cro Cop’," they reveal, showing that they are well-informed about the country they are visiting. When it comes to the reaction of the Croatian audience to their unique sound, which combines the energy of hard rock with a distinctive Korean musical identity, they hope for a warm and open reception. "Regardless of which city we perform in, we will do our best to put on an excellent concert," they promise. They phrased their invitation to the audience in Rijeka simply and directly: "Dear people of Rijeka, come and experience YB live — music that transcends the borders of Korea. We are sure that after the first concert, you will want to see us again."

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
