The summer season in Novi Vinodolski reaches its peak with the transition from June to July, bringing a rich and diverse program of events that guarantees unforgettable experiences for all visitors and residents. The city transforms into a vibrant open-air stage, where the sounds of rock music, the rhythms of the eighties, the proud preservation of tradition, and a sporting spirit intertwine, creating a unique atmosphere that pulsates with energy and good fun.

The sound of engines and rock and roll in the city harbor

The last weekend in June is traditionally reserved for lovers of octane and powerful sound. The already established motorcycle meeting, "Open bike event", will once again gather bikers from the entire region in the picturesque harbor of Novi Vinodolski. This event, which attracts an increasing number of participants and onlookers year after year, is not just a showcase of shiny two-wheelers, but a real festival of socializing and music. The program begins on Friday, June 27, when the atmosphere will be warmed up by an energetic performance from the band PleteRi, known for their fierce rock covers and original songs that guarantee a great time. The highlight of the musical part of the meeting follows on Saturday, June 28, when the legendary Split band TBF (The Beat Fleet) takes the stage. Their recognizable lyrics and infectious rhythms will echo through the harbor late into the night, giving the audience a concert to remember. Of course, an indispensable part of the event are the attractive motorcycle games, where the most skilled bikers will show off their abilities, and the ceremonial motorcycle parade through the city streets, which will take place on Saturday afternoon, creating an impressive sight and sound that leave no one indifferent. For all visitors, this is an ideal opportunity to explore the offer of accommodation in Novi Vinodolski.

A blend of tradition, music, and dance: Mesopusna nostalgia

The beginning of July brings the second, even more lavish edition of the event Mesopusna nostalgija (Carnival Nostalgia), a three-day spectacle that will take place from Friday, July 4, to Sunday, July 6. This unique event celebrates the most valuable part of the local identity – Mesopust (Carnival), a custom that, due to its importance, is listed as a protected intangible cultural heritage of the Republic of Croatia. The entire city will become a stage, with as many as three locations – Frankopan Square, Vinodol Law Square, and the Promenade of Croatian Defenders – that will exude the spirit of the past and present.
The celebration begins on Friday evening, July 4, with a program dedicated to the preservation of tradition. At 8:30 PM, a ceremonial procession consisting of carnival participants, members of the Cultural and Artistic Society and the Chakavian Assembly Department, as well as numerous locals dressed in lavish Novi Vinodolski folk costumes, will pass along the Promenade of Croatian Defenders. After greeting the crowd, a presentation of authentic customs and the performance of the traditional Novi Vinodolski circle dance with kolo singers will follow, a sight that momentarily stops time and revives the spirit of old times. After this emotional journey into the past, the fun continues with modern rhythms, provided by the popular band Misho i Kovači and DJ Boris. For the youngest visitors, a special children's corner with a creative workshop for painting canvas bags will be provided.

Saturday evening, July 5, brings a complete turnaround, transforming Novi Vinodolski into a giant retro dance floor. The entire city center will return to the golden age of the seventies and eighties of the last century. The atmosphere will be complemented by two music stages, old-timers and Vespas exhibited in the center thanks to cooperation with the Oldtimer Club Rijeka and the Vespa Club Novi Vinodolski, and visitors will be able to capture memories in specially decorated retro photo booths. The musical time machine and disco fever will be provided by the Disco Magic Band, Italian DJ Luca Montecchi, and David Danijel with his unforgettable Dance Party. In addition to the music, visitors can expect a rich gastronomic offer with flavors of that era. The beloved Rolly Park, a space for all roller-skating enthusiasts, is also returning to Ivan Mažuranić Square. From July 4 to 6, everyone will be able to skate for free in the evening hours to the legendary hits of past decades.

Culture, art, and sporting spirit

The summer program in Novi Vinodolski also offers a rich cultural and sports content. On Tuesday, July 2, the city center will host the handicraft fair "Magic of Handicrafts". From 7 PM to 11 PM, visitors will have the opportunity to view and buy unique products from local artists, craftsmen, and family farms (OPGs). The stalls will feature local honey, natural cosmetics, original souvenirs, and various other handicrafts that testify to the creativity and diligence of this region.
Art lovers will also be delighted. The prestigious City Gallery Turnac continues its exhibition program, and from Thursday, July 3, it opens its doors to an exhibition by the artist Emanuela Santini. Her works can be viewed until July 13, providing visitors with a unique insight into her artistic world. During the summer, the gallery will also host other renowned artists, thus confirming its status as an important cultural center of the region.
The first weekend of July will also be marked by sports. The "MNT Novi 2025" Children's Futsal Tournament will be held at the small sports playground. This sporting event will bring together young football talents in the U-8, U-9, U-10, U-11, U-12, and U-13 categories. The tournament is an excellent opportunity for boys and girls to show their talent, compete in the spirit of fair play, and make new friends. All interested parties can register their teams via the phone number 098/276-444. This is just the beginning of an exciting summer that offers a handful of reasons to visit and stay in Novi Vinodolski.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
