On May 30, 2025, Karlobag will become the central point of the moto community in Croatia and beyond, thanks to the historic opening of the first official moto beach in the country. Located in the picturesque Tatinja bay, this specialized beach offers a completely new concept intended exclusively for motorcyclists and fans of moto culture, and represents a strong step forward in the development of thematic tourism and enriching the tourist offer of the coastal town of Karlobag.

A revolutionary idea in the heart of the Adriatic

The concept of a moto beach in Croatia has never before been institutionally recognized or realized at the national level. The initiative, launched in cooperation between the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Karlobag, the Municipality itself, and the local moto club Crazy Wolf's, is not just a symbolic gesture towards the biker community – but a strong statement by which Karlobag positions itself as one of the most innovative destinations along the Croatian coast.

What makes this beach special is not only its location and the beauty of the natural environment, but also the fact that it is fully adapted to the needs of bikers: from easily accessible motorcycle access, safety elements and parking capacities, to an ambiance that exudes moto culture and the freedom of the road. Karlobag thus opens its doors to a completely new profile of tourist, one who seeks more than a sea view and classic tourist routines.

Opening with music, socializing, and adrenaline

The ceremonial opening of the moto beach will take place on Friday, May 30, 2025, starting at 17:00 hours. From the very beginning, visitors can expect a diverse program designed to combine the passion for motorcycles, music, and socializing. In the evening hours, more precisely from 20:30 hours, the atmosphere will be further heated up by the performance of the renowned GS Big Banda, which will give the event a cultural and musical dimension.

In addition to music and moto enthusiasm, a rich catering offer with local specialties and refreshments has been prepared for visitors, which will further enrich the experience of this special day. All this with a view of the sunset over the sea and the sounds of motorcycles in the background – a scenario that will, without a doubt, be deeply engraved in the memories of all present.

Long-term moto tourism development strategy

The opening of the moto beach in Karlobag does not stop at symbolism. The local government and tourist structures are planning a year-round approach to moto tourism – including the construction of additional infrastructure, the organization of moto events, the development of service points, motorcycle washes, and encouraging local restaurateurs to introduce content that will attract this specific target group of tourists.

It is important to note that Croatia has been recording an increase in moto tourist arrivals for years, especially from Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and Italy, who recognize our country as an ideal destination for riding along the sea and through mountain roads. Karlobag, located at the crossroads of the Adriatic Highway and access to Lika, represents a perfect starting point for exploring both the coast and the interior.

More than just a regular beach

The moto beach in Tatinja bay is not conceived as a seasonal project, but as a long-term sustainable concept with the potential for developing additional facilities such as moto camps, workshops for moto culture, safe riding schools, and themed moto tours that will also include the natural beauties of Velebit. Partnership with regional moto clubs is also planned, as well as the possibility of connecting with international moto events.

This opening comes at a time when moto tourism is recognized as one of the fastest-growing niches in global tourism, with high spending potential and guest loyalty. In this sense, the moto beach project in Karlobag is a logical and strategically smart step for all involved actors.

Community and support from the community

The moto beach project would not have been possible without the strong support of the local community, citizens, restaurateurs, small entrepreneurs, and volunteers who contributed their energy and work to the realization of this idea. The moto club Crazy Wolf's made a key contribution to organizing the event, but also in shaping the concept itself through experience and understanding the needs of the moto population.

Interestingly, many private renters in Karlobag have already begun adapting their facilities to accommodate moto tourists – in terms of secure parking, the possibility of basic servicing, and additional services that bikers appreciate, such as equipment drying facilities and information on the best riding routes.

Karlobag – a new chapter in moto tourism

As a destination that combines mountains and sea, untouched nature and a dynamic road network, Karlobag has all the prerequisites for the successful development of moto tourism. The opening of the first Croatian moto beach in Tatinja bay is just the first step. With the right direction, support from the local community, and a clear vision, Karlobag can become a permanent stop on the map of every serious biker, but also an example of how small communities can make a big leap forward when they combine enthusiasm, authenticity, and strategic thinking.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
