During the period from September 30 to October 6, 2024, digital nomads will have the opportunity to participate in a unique program that combines remote work with enjoying the luxurious gastronomy and beautiful landscapes of central Istria. This region, known for its picturesque hills and rich enogastronomic heritage, offers an ideal environment for those looking to establish a balance between professional and personal life. Central Istria represents a perfect place for digital nomads who want to live more slowly while staying productive during their stay.

Enjoying local culture and nature

Central Istria is filled with history, tradition, and natural beauty that attracts tourists from around the world. This destination offers a rich cultural heritage as well as various outdoor activities, from hiking on the hills to exploring local vineyards. Digital nomads arriving in this region can enjoy a peaceful environment without crowds, which is ideal for a focused work atmosphere. They can expect traditional taverns, local products, and opportunities for active participation in various cultural events throughout the year.

ViNomad program: A blend of work and pleasure

The ViNomad program offers a unique opportunity for digital nomads as it provides a structured seven-day adventure that includes work and social activities. The program is designed with an emphasis on 'slow productivity', allowing participants to connect with the local community, engage in workshops, and exchange experiences with other professionals. This seven-day workshop includes guided tours, expert workshops, and a series of social events that provide networking opportunities.

Active and educational activities

Besides the work aspect, participants will have the chance to engage in various outdoor activities, such as guided walks through the beautiful natural landscapes of Istria. The program also includes educational workshops focused on local gastronomy, including workshops on wine and traditional dish preparation. In this program, digital nomads can learn more about local specialties, such as Istrian prosciutto and homemade cheeses, which further enrich their experience.

Collaboration and support

This project was initiated by the Central Istria Tourist Board in collaboration with various partners, including the Digital Nomads Croatia association and the Saltwater Nomads company. These organizations work together to promote Istria as a desirable destination for digital nomads, offering year-round activities and resources for professional development. An important aspect of this project is providing infrastructure that includes coworking spaces and high-speed internet, which is crucial for successful remote work.

Podcast series as a complement to the program

As part of the ViNomad project, a podcast series is also planned to allow participants to better get to know the region, its beauties, and culture, and to hear stories from other digital nomads. These podcasts will further promote the destination as a perfect place for work and relaxation, creating a community and support among participants.

With all of the above, central Istria is confirmed as an attractive destination for digital nomads seeking the perfect balance between work and personal life. Here, one can enjoy beautiful nature, rich culture, and top-notch gastronomy, all in one of the most beautiful parts of Croatia.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
