The Kvarner Tourist Board participates in the EU project SOCRAT (Socializing Craft & contemporary Art for sustainable Tourism), which is implemented through the Interreg Italy-Croatia program. The project has a total budget of €2,344,660.20, and the duration is planned until August 31, 2026. Funding is provided 80% from the ERDF and 20% from project partners.

The SOCRAT project aims to promote sustainable tourism and preserve cultural heritage through the development of innovative solutions that connect tourism, culture, and local communities. Partners from Italy and Croatia will focus on reducing seasonality and improving cooperation between artists, local communities, and the public sector. This will help emphasize the authenticity of destinations.

By participating in EU projects, especially those related to culture, Kvarner enriches its offerings and values its rich cultural heritage. This collaboration enables the permanent protection and promotion of cultural values, which become key elements of the tourist offer.

The SOCRAT project stands out for its contribution to the sustainable development of tourism. Through various activities, the project will enable local communities to better utilize their cultural resources and increase the tourist potential of their areas.

In addition to the SOCRAT project, the Kvarner Tourist Board is also participating in the UPrest and MIST EU projects from the Erasmus+ program in 2024. These projects aim to improve professional skills and competencies through international cooperation and exchange of experiences.

Special attention is paid to the preservation of cultural heritage and its integration into the tourist offer. Through projects such as SOCRAT, UPrest, and MIST, Kvarner strengthens its position as an attractive tourist destination that offers unique cultural and historical content.

Within the SOCRAT project, various workshops, education, and events are planned to connect local artists and craftsmen with the tourism sector. These activities aim to enhance creative industries and enable the sustainable development of tourism.

The Kvarner Tourist Board actively works on promoting its projects and collaborating with international partners to ensure long-term sustainability and competitiveness in the tourism market. Projects like SOCRAT represent an important step towards achieving these goals.

Through participation in EU projects, Kvarner demonstrates its commitment to the development of sustainable tourism and the preservation of cultural heritage. This cooperation brings numerous benefits to the local community and contributes to a better connection between culture and tourism.

The SOCRAT project and similar initiatives enable Kvarner to position itself as a leading destination that successfully combines tradition and contemporary tourism. Through these projects, Kvarner not only improves its tourist offer but also ensures the preservation and promotion of its rich cultural heritage.

Kvarner is an example of a region that successfully uses EU funds for the development and promotion of its cultural and tourist potentials. Participation in projects such as SOCRAT, UPrest, and MIST allows Kvarner to improve its offer and become an even more attractive destination for visitors from all over the world.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
