Yesterday, at the 14th session of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the proposal of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Dr. sc. Davor Božinović, to send the Final Proposal of the Law on the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Cooperation in the Field of Mine Action to further procedure was accepted.

After the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on Cooperation in the Field of Mine Action was signed, the Final Proposal of the Law on the Ratification of this Agreement was drafted.

The Agreement was signed in October 2023 during the International Donor Conference on Humanitarian Demining in Ukraine held in Zagreb. The signatories of the Agreement are the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Dr. sc. Davor Božinović, and the First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy, Yuliya Svyrydenko.

The aim of the Agreement is to improve bilateral cooperation between Croatia and Ukraine, as well as to assist Ukraine in reducing the socio-economic, security, and environmental consequences of the threat of explosive remnants of war.

Developed Mine Action System
Faced with the problem of mine-suspected land after the Homeland War, Croatia has developed a high-quality mine action system recognized worldwide. Years of international cooperation have enabled the transfer of knowledge and technologies in mine action.

Minister Božinović also presented the proposal for the Decision on Amendments to the Decision on the Establishment of the Commission for Monitoring the Implementation of the National Plan for the Inclusion of Roma for the period from 2021 to 2027.

Amendments to the Decision
The Amendments to the Decision, adopted by the Government of the Republic of Croatia in June 2021, are aligned with the changes in the Law on the Organization and Scope of State Administration Bodies. Now, the members of the commission are representatives of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and State Property, and the Ministry of Science, Education, and Youth. It is also prescribed that the members of the commission will be appointed by the Government within 30 days from the date of entry into force of this Decision.
