The Ministry of the Interior invites citizens and representatives of organizations to participate in the new cycle of e-consultations related to legislative proposals planned for the year 2025. This process, which is fully accessible through the electronic platform e-Consultations, allows for transparent communication between the public and the government, and helps in shaping laws and regulations that will have a direct impact on the daily lives of citizens. The deadline for submitting proposals and comments is October 15, 2024.

The plan of legislative activities, published by the Ministry of the Interior, provides a detailed overview of the legislative proposals that will be considered in the coming year. The proposals cover various areas, including security, international cooperation, regulation of the state border, and the protection of the rights of foreigners and refugees. Each draft law has a clearly defined goal and justification that explains its importance and purpose.

The significance of e-Consultations

The e-Consultations application is part of a broader framework that enables the public to actively participate in shaping national policies. This model of public consultation is prescribed by the Law on the Right of Access to Information (NN 25/13, NN 85/15, NN 69/22) and plays a crucial role in increasing the transparency of the work of state bodies. According to information from the Ministry, it is planned that through e-consultations, the public will have the opportunity to express their opinions, present proposals or comments on laws that will directly impact citizens, all with the aim of improving the quality of the legislative process.

The platform is open to all registered users, and participation in e-Consultations has become a key step in the process of adopting new laws and regulations. As mentioned in the Government's report for the year 2023, e-Consultations enable openness and the inclusion of all interested parties, thereby strengthening the democratic nature of the entire legislative process.

Key laws for the year 2025

Among the proposed laws included in the plan for the year 2025 are:

  • Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on the Supervision of the State Border (EU)

  • Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Foreigners (EU)

  • Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on International and Temporary Protection

  • Law on the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo on Mutual Recognition and Exchange of Driving Licenses

  • Law on the Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo on Cooperation in the Protection against Natural, Technical, and Technological Disasters

  • Agreement on Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Croatia and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in the Field of Anti-Mine Action

  • Law on the Ratification of the Agreement between several countries on Cooperation and Coordination in Search and Rescue

All the mentioned laws are designed to improve the security, international, and humanitarian aspects of the Croatian legislative system, with the public playing a crucial role in their development and revision, allowing direct influence on the final form of the law through e-consultation.

The importance of active participation

Public participation in the legislative process via the e-Consultations platform has proven to be an effective tool in democratizing the decision-making process. In this way, the Government of the Republic of Croatia ensures that all legislative proposals go through public debate and that suggestions coming from various social sectors are taken into account. The Ministry of the Interior particularly emphasizes the importance of timely reactions and participation to ensure that laws are tailored to the needs of citizens and institutions. Therefore, all interested parties have the opportunity until October 15, 2024, to submit their comments and proposals via the application e-Consultation.

Political desk

The political desk shapes its content with the belief that responsible writing and a solid understanding of social processes hold essential value in the public sphere. For years, we have been analyzing political events, monitoring changes that affect citizens, and reflecting on the relationships between institutions, individuals, and the international community. Our approach is based on experience gained through long-term work in journalism and direct observation of political scenes in different countries and systems.

In our editorial work, we emphasize context, because we know that politics is never just the news of the day. Behind every move, statement, or decision are circumstances that define its true significance, and our task is to bring readers closer to the background and intentions that are not visible at first glance. In our articles, we strive to build a vivid picture of society – its tensions, ambitions, problems, and those moments when opportunities for change arise.

Over the years, we have learned that political reporting is not reduced to retelling conferences and press releases. It requires patience, observation, and a willingness to compare various sources, assess credibility, recognize patterns of behavior, and find meaning in actions that sometimes seem contradictory. To achieve this, we rely on experience gained through long-term work with public institutions, civil society organizations, analysts, and individuals who shape political reality through their activities.

Our writing stems from personal fieldwork: from conventions, protests, parliamentary sessions, international forums, and conversations with people who experience politics from within. These encounters shape texts in which we strive to be clear, precise, and fair, without dramatizing and without deviating from facts. We want the reader to feel informed, not overwhelmed, and to receive a picture that enables them to independently assess what a given decision means for their everyday life.

The political desk believes in the importance of open and responsible journalism. In a world full of quick reactions and sensationalism, we choose diligent, long-term work on texts that offer a broader perspective. It is a slower path, but the only one that ensures content that is thorough, credible, and in the service of the reader. Our approach has grown from decades of experience and the conviction that an informed citizen is the strongest guardian of democratic processes.

That is why our publications do not merely follow the daily news cycle. They seek to understand what political events truly mean, where they lead, and how they fit into the broader picture of international relations. We write with respect for the reader and with the awareness that politics is not an isolated field, but a space where economy, culture, identity, security, and the individual life of each person intersect.
