To avoid traffic incidents and accidents, it is important that all road users comply with traffic regulations. It is especially important that drivers do not sit behind the wheel under the influence of alcohol and that they adjust their driving to the conditions on the road. Adhering to these measures is crucial for the safety of all traffic participants.

Increased police controls and interventions
During the past weekend, police officers from the Gospić Police Station carried out intensified traffic controls, recording a number of serious violations.

One of the incidents occurred in Gospić, where the police stopped a personal vehicle with Split registration plates. It turned out that the vehicle was driven by a 50-year-old man from Kaštela, who does not possess a valid driver's license. Additionally, the person was under a measure prohibiting the submission of a request for issuing a driver's license, which further complicates the situation. The driver was immediately excluded from traffic, and a charge proposal was filed against him. At the same time, the vehicle owner was sanctioned with a mandatory misdemeanor order for allowing the vehicle to be driven by a person he knew had no right to drive.

On the A-1 highway, near the Perušić interchange, another serious violation was recorded. The police stopped a vehicle with Zagreb registration plates, driven by a 72-year-old driver from Zagreb. The driver was operating a vehicle whose registration and insurance had expired, which is a serious violation. The vehicle was immediately excluded from traffic, and the driver was issued misdemeanor orders and reports on the committed violations.

Accidents and their consequences
During the weekend, ten traffic accidents were recorded in the area of the Lika-Senj Police Department. One of these accidents, which occurred in the Senj area, resulted in minor injuries to one person.

The other accidents were recorded with material damage and occurred in the areas of Otočac, Novalja, Gospić, and Karlobag. Five accidents were recorded in Otočac, while two accidents were recorded in Novalja. One accident each was recorded in Gospić and Karlobag.

Preventive-repressive traffic measures
In order to increase road safety, the police carried out a series of preventive-repressive actions aimed at sanctioning violations over the weekend. A total of 44 violations were recorded, most of which were related to speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.

The highest concentration of alcohol was measured in a 36-year-old driver from Karlovac, who was found to have 2.93 g/kg of alcohol in his blood during a check in Senj. This driver was immediately excluded from traffic, and appropriate legal measures were taken against him. In addition, the police recorded 11 speeding violations, 7 alcohol-related driving violations, and 26 violations of not using a seat belt.

These preventive-repressive measures are part of the continuous efforts of the police to increase road safety and reduce the number of traffic accidents. It is important for drivers to be aware of their responsibilities and to comply with traffic regulations in order to ensure the safety of all road users.
