Memorial competition in practical shooting "Josip Briški 2024" marked the tenth anniversary since the special units of the Croatian Armed Forces began organizing this event. It took place from September 2nd to 5th, 2024, at the "Headquarters Brigadier Ante Šaškor" barracks in Delnice and at the "Kovačevo" shooting range in Grobnik, attracting many competitors from various branches of the military.

The competition was held according to the rules of the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC), but adapted to specific military conditions. Participants used pistols with mechanical sights and rifles with optical sights, testing their skills through six practical tasks. These tasks were designed to simulate real combat situations, highlighting the importance of experience in military operations. Only competitors with previous experience in instinctive and situational combat shooting were eligible to participate.

In addition to members of the Special Forces Command (ZSS), units such as the Guard Armored Mechanized Brigade, the Military Police Regiment, the Honorary Protection Battalion, and the Naval Assault Infantry Company participated in the competition. Two teams composed of veterans, former members of special units, also competed, bringing rich experience and adding a special dimension to the event.

On the final day, September 5th, 2024, a ceremony was held at the ZSS barracks in Delnice, where medals and trophies were awarded to the best teams and individuals. Regardless of placement, all participants received certificates of appreciation for their contributions. The ceremony was led by Colonel Ante Carminatti, Deputy Commander of the ZSS, who emphasized the importance of such events for strengthening cooperation among members of different military units.

This event has a special significance as, since 2019, it has been named in honor of Josip Briški, a member of the special units who tragically lost his life during a peacekeeping operation in Afghanistan. His name today symbolizes unity, bravery, and dedication of all competition participants.
