In the heart of the city of Krk, musical magic is once again brewing – Krk Music Fest, an event that traditionally marks World Music Day and the unofficial start of the summer season on the island. From June 20th to 22nd, 2025, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy a rich and diverse program, free of charge, that combines tradition, contemporary musical expressions, and film art. The main city locations, including the picturesque Krk waterfront, the historic Vela placa, and Kino Krk, will become open-air stages, offering unforgettable experiences for all generations. The organization of this significant event is undertaken by the Tourist Board of the City of Krk, with the wholehearted support of the City of Krk and long-term partner Valamar Riviera, who recognize the importance of such events for the cultural and tourist offer of the city of Krk.

Friday: A blend of tradition, local notes, and world music hits

The festival will ceremoniously begin on Friday, June 20th, by immersing into the rich cultural heritage of the island of Krk. The evening opens with a performance by the Folklore Society Poljica, whose members, in authentic traditional costumes and to the sounds of indigenous music, will present lively Krk dances. Their performance will remind the audience of the value of preserving local customs and traditions that are proudly passed down through generations. After an emotional journey into the past, a promenade concert by the Krk Town Orchestra will follow. This orchestra, representing one of the pillars of the musical culture of the city of Krk, has been delighting audiences for generations with its performances, skillfully balancing between classical compositions and popular melodies adapted for a brass ensemble. Their music will create a pleasant and festive atmosphere on the Krk waterfront.

The highlight of the festival's first evening is reserved for an energetic performance by the eight-member Split-based band LevelOne Band. Recognized as one of the most esteemed and sought-after tribute bands in the wider region, LevelOne Band specializes in performing unforgettable hits from the golden age of the world pop and rock scene. The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy faithful interpretations of songs by music legends such as David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Roxette, The Police, Whitney Houston, Fleetwood Mac, and the legendary Queen. Their "Golden Pop Rock Show" is known for its high energy level, technical refinement, and ability to faithfully capture the sound, look, and overall atmosphere of the original artists. An evening filled with dance, strong emotions, and a dose of musical nostalgia awaits us, which will surely get everyone present dancing.

Saturday: Powerful vocals and preservation of traditional chants

The second day of Krk Music Fest, Saturday, June 21st, continues with the presentation of the rich cultural heritage of the island of Krk, but also brings contemporary musical delights. The program on Vela placa will be opened by the Folklore Society Vrh, which will, with its performance, introduce the audience to another segment of the island's diverse cultural mosaic. Through authentic dance steps and traditional chants, they will revive musical and dance motifs that are lovingly preserved and passed down from generation to generation, testifying to the rich history and identity of the local community.

After folklore tones fill the historic core of the city of Krk, the evening will reach its musical peak on the Krk waterfront with a grand concert by a true musical phenomenon – 4 Tenora. These four superb singers – Đani Stipaničev, Vladimir Garić, Filip Hozjak, and Marko Pecotić – have won the hearts of audiences throughout Croatia and beyond with their extraordinary vocal abilities, undeniable charm, and unique energy. Their performances are true musical journeys that encompass a wide range of genres, from classical opera arias and famous Italian canzonas to world evergreens and popular hits from the world of rock, musicals, and pop music. Each of their concerts is imbued with deep emotions and recognizable Mediterranean warmth, and songs like "Brod bez imena", "Sve je tvoje", or "Adio ljubavi" gain a special dimension when performed live, in the magical atmosphere of a summer evening in the city of Krk.

Sunday: Choral harmonies, vocal magic, and a grand rock finale

The final day of the festival, Sunday, June 22nd, brings a rich and varied program that will satisfy different musical tastes. The evening on Vela placa will begin with a performance by the Folklore Society Kornić, which will once again take visitors on a journey through the rich tradition of the island, presenting authentic songs and dances of their region. Their performance is an opportunity to experience the intangible cultural heritage that forms an important part of the identity of the island of Krk.

After the folklore introduction, the stage will be taken over by the Youth Choir of the Creative Krk Association – Tiramol. Founded in 2022, this talented choir brings together young musicians of high school and elementary school age. Their repertoire, based on polyphonic a cappella performances with elements of folk and pop, captivates the audience with its sincerity, freshness, and enviable musical maturity despite the young age of its members. The choir's success is confirmed by significant awards, including silver prizes from international choral competitions such as Istria Cantat and Aurora Cantat, which testify to their quality and dedication. The program on Vela placa will continue with a performance by the Vocal Group Kurikta. Founded in 2024 right in the city of Krk, Kurikta brings together experienced singers with many years of experience in award-winning choirs and vocal ensembles. The group nurtures polyphonic arrangements of compositions from different stylistic periods, placing special emphasis on artistic interpretation, refinement of performance, and achieving a homogeneous team sound.

The grand finale of Krk Music Fest will take place on the Krk waterfront, where the audience will be greeted by a spectacular concert by the Velvet Dress U2 Tribute band. This band is considered one of the most authentic European tribute bands dedicated to the legendary Irish band U2. The uniqueness of this band lies in the fact that the lead vocalist, Leonardo Petteno, not only possesses an exceptional musical and visual resemblance to Bono Vox but also had the opportunity to perform personally with the original U2 at their concert in Turin in 2015. This unique event further confirms his musical authenticity and passion for U2's music. The audience will be able to enjoy timeless hits such as "One", "With or Without You", "Beautiful Day", and "Elevation", creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the greatest stadium concerts of the famous Irish band. This performance, sponsored by Valamar, will surely be the highlight of the three-day music celebration in the city of Krk.

Film treats that complement the musical experience

The film program of Krk Music Fest traditionally offers a special audiovisual delight, and screenings will once again be held this year in the pleasant ambiance of Kino Krk. On Friday, June 20th, the long-awaited documentary film "Becoming Led Zeppelin" is scheduled. This is the first official film about one of the most influential rock bands of all time, realized with the full cooperation of the surviving band members – Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones. The film provides a fascinating and intimate insight into the band's early days, using rare archival footage, exclusive interviews, and previously unseen material. Viewers will have the opportunity to discover how the individual musical paths of the four talented musicians merged and how the unique sound that defined an era and left an indelible mark on music history was created.

A day later, on Saturday, June 21st, film lovers will be able to watch the biographical drama "Maria", the new work by acclaimed Chilean director Pablo Larraín, known for his portraits of strong women like "Jackie" and "Spencer". The famous Angelina Jolie appears in the lead role of Maria Callas, one of the greatest opera divas of the 20th century. The film focuses on the last years of the legendary singer's life, which she spent in Paris, exploring her inner fragility, the complexity of her artistic persona, her dizzying fame, and the personal traumas that accompanied her. "Maria" promises an intimate, tender, and deeply emotional portrait of a woman whose voice and life story are still a subject of fascination today.
