After the successful first edition of Summer on Lim, a program of themed events jointly launched last year by the tourist boards of Kanfanar and Vrsar, this year Summer on Lim starts even earlier and will last longer, with a series of interesting and attractive programs awaiting visitors to this protected natural area.

The rich program of Summer on Lim was announced by the director of TZO Kanfanar Ivana Maružin Mrzlić and the director of TZO Vrsar Klara Trošt Lesić, emphasizing that all events were designed following the principles of sustainable development and paying attention to the specifics of the Lim Bay location. This year, a total of 12 events have been designed to enrich Lim's tourist offer, starting from July 11 until September 11. With a new event every week, guests can expect storytelling boat tours, themed walks along the bay, film screenings, boat picnics, and art workshops.

This year's Summer on Lim will open with the first edition of the already beloved interpretative boat rides called "Pirates of Lim", where, together with actors from Istra Inspirit, guests are presented with legends, stories, and various interesting facts related to the Lim Bay area during a dynamic boat ride. The "Pirates of Lim" tours will take place on a total of 5 dates, and participation requires prior reservations and the purchase of a ticket costing 10 euros. Those interested can secure their place on the pirate ship through the new platform of the Istrian Development Tourist Agency – To Do In Istria – or on the website www.todoinistria.com

Just a week after the first Pirates of Lim, this attractive bay will become the setting for a film screening of "The Long Ships" from 1964, filmed right in the Lim Bay. This way, the 60th anniversary of the filming of this cult film will be appropriately marked, for which a whole Viking village was built on Lim at that time. The film screening is free and will be held on the Lim Bay waterfront on 17.7. at 21:00.

In the special ambiance of Lim this summer, you can also enjoy themed art workshops led by master of fine arts Anita Pilat, in two terms – 24.7. at 18:30 and 4.9. at 18:00. For a price of 25 €, participants can expect a guided painting workshop on canvas, painting landscapes inspired by the Lim Bay. In addition to painting, participants can also expect tastings of local wines, and prior reservations are required at info@visitkanfanar.hr.

However, Lim does not inspire only on the waterfront, as shown by the guided interpretative walks along the themed trail "Energy", which will explore part of the Lim Bay coast. As part of Summer on Lim, two guided walks will be held along this 2.2 km long circular trail, led by certified heritage interpreters. Participation is free, and the dates are planned for 2.8. at 19:00 and 14.8. at 19:00.

Near the end of the summer adventures on Lim, the experience "Picnic on the Boat" will be presented, where guests can expect a boat ride through the Lim Bay accompanied by appropriate music animation and tastings of local and marine delicacies from this area. Participation in this unique "floating" picnic requires reservations and tickets can be purchased on the To Do In Istria platform, on the website www.todoinistria.com

The first "Picnic on Lim" of the season will be held on 28.8. at 19:00, while the second date is reserved for 11.9. at 18:30, when "Summer on Lim" ends.

All participants of the "Summer on Lim" program also have a special benefit, in the form of a 20% discount on attractive Hawaiian canoe trips organized by Argo adventure on Lim (www.argo-adventure.hr), with prior announcement and agreement with the leaders of these unique tours via contacts listed on their websites.

That the organizers took care of sustainability in all segments is also evidenced by the fact that posters announcing the events were printed in minimal quantities, and most of the promotion is done through digital channels. The posters that were printed were made on handmade paper from recycled materials, representing a new and innovative concept in promotion. To respect the specifics of the area that needs to be specially preserved due to the protected flora and fauna, the number of participants for all events is limited, and therefore prior registrations are required. More information about all programs is available on the websites of the tourist boards – www.visitkanfanar.hr and www.infovrsar.com, as well as on social networks.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
