The island of Lošinj, known as the island of vitality, confirmed its status as one of the leaders of Croatian tourism in the first half of 2025, not only for its natural beauty but also for the exceptionally high level of service quality recognized and appreciated by numerous visitors. Data collected through the comprehensive "IQM Destination - Integrated Quality Management" project reveals that guest satisfaction is at an enviable level, setting high standards for the entire sector. A systematic analysis, covering a wide range of tourist services, provides a detailed insight into the effort and dedication of the local community in creating a premium experience for every guest. The results for the first six months of this year show not only the maintenance of quality continuity but also significant progress in key segments of the offer, confirming that Mali Lošinj is a destination that systematically invests in its future.

Systematic quality monitoring as the foundation of success

In the period from January 1 to June 30, 2025, as many as 4,419 guests shared their impressions, and their reviews resulted in an impressive average satisfaction score of 92 on a scale of 100. This high score is not accidental but is the result of a strategic approach and continuous measurement through the IQM Destination project. This is an initiative carried out by the Tourist Board of the Town of Mali Lošinj in cooperation with the renowned company Feel IQM, which specializes in quality management in tourism. The main goal of the project is to create a measurable and sustainable system that connects all stakeholders in the destination – from hoteliers and campsite owners to restaurateurs and service providers at attractions – in order to ensure a coordinated and top-quality service. Particularly important is the fact that the response rate to online comments and guest reviews is as high as 66%, which testifies to the exceptional engagement of local stakeholders and their readiness to actively listen to the needs of guests and react promptly, thus building trust and raising the level of professionalism.

Excellence in all segments of the tourist offer

A more detailed analysis of the collected data reveals that a high level of quality permeates all aspects of Mali Lošinj's tourist offer. Each segment shows enviable results, and in some, a noticeable growth compared to the previous year has been recorded, indicating the successful implementation of improvements based on previous feedback.

Hotel accommodation, as one of the key pillars of the offer, achieved an average score of 91/100, recording a quality growth of almost 1%. What is particularly impressive is the response rate to guest reviews of as high as 96%, which shows an almost complete dedication of hoteliers to communication with guests. Within this segment, the highest score was given to staff hospitality (93/100), which confirms that the human factor is crucial in creating a positive experience. Similar to hotels, campsites also hold a high score of 91/100, with an even more pronounced growth in satisfaction of 2%. Guests in campsites particularly highlighted cleanliness, rating it 89/100, which is crucial for this type of accommodation that attracts nature lovers. The diversity of accommodation capacities, from luxury hotels to family campsites, makes Mali Lošinj attractive to different profiles of guests.

Gastronomy rightly stands out as one of the island's strongest assets. Restaurants have reached an outstanding score of 94/100, with guests particularly praising the friendliness of the staff (93/100) and the exceptionally pleasant ambiance (95/100). These results reflect the richness of the local cuisine, which is based on fresh, indigenous ingredients, as well as the efforts of restaurateurs to create a unique atmosphere. Caffe bars also maintain a high level with a score of 92/100, representing an important part of the destination's daily life.

Natural and cultural attractions, which are the soul of the island, were rated with a high 93/100. Whether it's a visit to the world-famous Muzeju Apoksiomena, exploring the Lošinj Aromatic Garden, or enjoying the view from thematic viewpoints, guests recognize the uniqueness and quality of the content. Particularly pleasing is the data on the growth of satisfaction with the arrangement of beaches, which reached a score of 88/100, an increase of almost 2% compared to last year. From hidden coves like Čikat and Sunčana uvala to family beaches such as Veli žal, continuous investment in cleanliness and facilities brings visible results and contributes to the overall positive impression.

A strategic approach for a sustainable future

The outstanding results that Mali Lošinj achieves are not the result of chance, but of a long-term vision and strategic planning. The "IQM Destination" project allows the Tourist Board and all involved partners to make decisions based on concrete data. Through periodic reporting and comparison with previous periods, areas that require further improvements are clearly identified. Such a proactive approach, focused on constantly raising the quality bar, ensures not only the satisfaction of current guests but also the long-term sustainability and competitiveness of the destination. Investing in employee education, encouraging excellence, and strengthening cooperation among all stakeholders in tourism are proving to be the right path that firmly positions Lošinj as an island of superior service and unforgettable experiences.

Tourism desk

Our Travel Desk was born out of a long-standing passion for travel, discovering new places, and serious journalism. Behind every article stand people who have been living tourism for decades – as travelers, tourism workers, guides, hosts, editors, and reporters. For more than thirty years, destinations, seasonal trends, infrastructure development, changes in travelers’ habits, and everything that turns a trip into an experience – and not just a ticket and an accommodation reservation – have been closely followed. These experiences are transformed into articles conceived as a companion to the reader: honest, informed, and always on the traveler’s side.

At the Travel Desk, we write from the perspective of someone who has truly walked the cobblestones of old towns, taken local buses, waited for the ferry in peak season, and searched for a hidden café in a small alley far from the postcards. Every destination is observed from multiple angles – how travelers experience it, what the locals say about it, what stories are hidden in museums and monuments, but also what the real quality of accommodation, beaches, transport links, and amenities is. Instead of generic descriptions, the focus is on concrete advice, real impressions, and details that are hard to find in official brochures.

Special attention is given to conversations with restaurateurs, private accommodation hosts, local guides, tourism workers, and people who make a living from travelers, as well as those who are only just trying to develop lesser-known destinations. Through such conversations, stories arise that do not show only the most famous attractions but also the rhythm of everyday life, habits, local cuisine, customs, and small rituals that make every place unique. The Travel Desk strives to record this layer of reality and convey it in articles that connect facts with emotion.

The content does not stop at classic travelogues. It also covers topics such as sustainable tourism, off-season travel, safety on the road, responsible behavior towards the local community and nature, as well as practical aspects like public transport, prices, recommended neighborhoods to stay in, and getting your bearings on the ground. Every article goes through a phase of research, fact-checking, and editing to ensure that the information is accurate, clear, and applicable in real situations – from a short weekend trip to a longer stay in a country or city.

The goal of the Travel Desk is that, after reading an article, the reader feels as if they have spoken to someone who has already been there, tried everything, and is now honestly sharing what is worth seeing, what to skip, and where those moments are hidden that turn a trip into a memory. That is why every new story is built slowly and carefully, with respect for the place it is about and for the people who will choose their next destination based on these words.
