The Municipality of Dobrinj on the island of Krk is preparing a rich and diverse program this year for the Advent celebrations, offering residents and visitors a variety of cultural, sports, and musical events. The event "Advent in Dobrinj 2024" will last from December 7 to 31, providing an opportunity for joint celebration and enjoyment in the festive atmosphere.


Sports Advent Weekend


December 7 – Winter Running League


On Saturday, December 7, starting at 10:30 AM on the promenade in Klimno, the traditional Winter Running League "Igor Malešević" will take place, organized by USR Kivna. This competition gathers runners from the entire region, offering them the chance to compete in a festive spirit. All interested participants can register via an online form, with the entry fee including lunch and drinks.


December 8 – Advent Bike Ride


Sunday, December 8, is reserved for the second Advent Bike Ride on the route Klimno–Šilo–Klimno. The start is scheduled for 11:00 AM at the promenade in Klimno. Participants will enjoy a scenic ride along the coast, and after the return, at 1:00 PM, a performance by the G-dur trio will take place at the children's playground, further enriching the holiday atmosphere. The entry fee is 7 euros, including lunch and drinks. Registration is open via the online form, and the route is 15 km long and suitable for all ages.


Donor Advent in Polje


On Sunday, December 15, after the Holy Mass, a Donor Advent will be held in Polje. Visitors will enjoy a rich culinary offering, including mulled wine, fritters, sausages with sauerkraut, and other delicacies. The musical entertainment will be provided by VIS Petrići, Pučki pivači Kaštel Lukšić, and Duo Pegla, ensuring fun until late in the evening.


Advent at Placa in Dobrinj


The central Advent event will be held on December 21 at Placa in Dobrinj. From 7:00 PM, visitors will be entertained by Neno Belan & Fiumens, performing their most famous hits. A joyful atmosphere is expected, with dancing and socializing until late at night.


Christmas and New Year's Concert


On the feast day of Saint Stephen, December 26, at 6:00 PM, the traditional Christmas and New Year's concert will be held in the sports hall of the Dobrinj Elementary School. The performance will feature the Zbor Zvon, Trio Fjok, and Eni Jurišić & Vjekoslav Ključarić band, with the participation of all sections of the Ivo Jelenović Cultural Society. The concert has a humanitarian character, and the collected funds will be used to assist Gabriel Mance and Teo Jelenović.


Jubilee 10th Farewell to the Old Year


On the last day of December, December 31, the jubilee 10th Farewell to the Old Year will take place at Placa in Dobrinj. The program will start at 10:00 PM, and visitors can expect a rich culinary offering, live music, and fireworks at midnight. This event traditionally gathers a large number of residents and guests, providing them with an opportunity for a joint celebration and welcoming the new year in pleasant company.
